Welcome to 2012, Andi- where Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, and a plethora of other social media have taken over; and I cannot seem to keep up! Today I became the newest member of Pinterest. Hoot Hoot! Who wants to follow me there? Does anyone really care? I can’t say I really “get it” yet, but I figured I would give it a whirl- after all…..the cool kids are all doing it, right? So, I am up and running. If you want to follow me, cool. If not, no worries because I honestly don’t think I would know the difference anyway- ha! My associate photographers, Kristin and Patrick, have teased me because I was not on yet. Actually, Patrick says Pinterest is the girlie social media and he is more a fan of Instagram. One thing at a time! So for now, Pinterest it is!
Our 10 Year Vow Renewal at Hammock Beach Resort
Ten years ago, on the rainiest day that Tampa has ever seen, I married my best friend. OK, so maybe it was not THE rainiest day- but to this bride it sure seemed that way. It was rainy enough to have our outside wedding moved to inside. Besides vowing marriage that day to the love of my life, I vowed that in ten years we would celebrate our vows with a renewal- and hopefully outside. We decided to have our vow renewal at a place that has become “our place”, the place we vacation every summer with some of our best friends and their families- Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast. We are blessed with such an amazing group of friends, that all of the details for our events came together in a spectacular way, all captured by one of my best friends from college, Kelly, of Pure Sugar Studios. (Kelly’s wedding was the first wedding I ever photographed several years ago when I was just a “newbie”. Needless to say, I think I got the better end of this deal! ha!) After photographing so many weddings myself, I knew there was so much that I could do with my details and decor to make it beautiful and unique. I chose a lemon and lavender theme, and used a ton of DIY elements. (more on this in another post where I will show how we created our centerpieces and what we did to save money). Of course, as this production started to grow and expand, Pete wondered why we could not have just gone to Bern’s for dinner. HA- silly man!
Special thanks to Mavilo, South Tampa’s finest jeweler for the stunning bridal necklace. (Brides-to-be- make sure to check them out. And guys- make sure to stop in if you are thinking of getting a FAB diamond engagement ring. Ask for Mimi and tell them Andi Diamond Photography sent you.) Thanks to our family and friends for supporting us and making our weekend wonderful- and for being such special parts of our lives. Punky, I love you more and more each day. Thanks you for being the best friend, partner, and father to our 2 amazing children. I love you forever! xo
Portrait Session Make Up Tips
One of the key elements in creating beautiful portraits is looking and feeling your best, which includes the proper make-up. (I am lucky most mornings to even get my make-up on between going to the gym, packing my son’s lunch for school, taking care of our infant, and getting into the studio before 9am. Needless to say….it ain’t pretty!) But alas, as I woman I know make-up helps to hide those dark circles, brighten my smile, and make me look a bit more refreshed. I LOVE me some pretty make-up! It is especially critical for portraits! In her excitement for her Tampa maternity portraits, Courtney has been really preparing in order to make her session FAB, and found this website from Merle Norman on make-up “how-to” tips. I wanted to share it as it gives some great pointers on making getting your make-up “picture perfect”! Here is a quick look at the site.
Once on their website, all you have to do it click on each color scheme and it shows you how to apply your eye shadows for daytime, girl’s night out, or a smokey eye look. Check it out HERE. Courtney said, “They do a free “Express Makeover”, too. They will put on your makeup give you tips and tricks and as long as you make a small purchase they don’t charge you for it.” Thanks Courtney for sharing this with us! Can’s wait for your maternity session soon! I am sure your make-up will be AMAZING!
Are you a complainer?
Recently I sat down in our studio with News Channel 8‘s Stacie Schabile, to be interviewed on a news story she was doing on Effective Complaining (which my sweet husband says I am really good at….don’t know if he meant that as a compliment.) As an artist, business owner, and woman, I do find myself especially sensitive to complaints (not that I EVER hear a complaint from my amazing clients :). I try to keep that in mind if and when I am ever dissatisfied and feel the need to complain. Here is the feature:
Thanks so much, Stacie, for including me on this story. I had alot of fun and hope I was able to share some positive insight!
