What to Wear For Your Tampa Boudoir Portrait Session

When shooting boudoir portraits with Andi Diamond Photography, my goal is to make the session comfortable, fun, and empowering for you. We’ll start with an in-person consult with wardrobe recommendations based on your goals for the portraits. On the day of the photoshoot, you’ll have professional hair and makeup plus your favorite mood music so you’re feeling beautiful and confident.

For a lot of clients, a boudoir photoshoot is a first. And you might not own much or any lingerie. So, what should you bring to your photoshoot? Below I lay out all the details you need to know.

Support the Girls

For those of you blessed with a larger chest, you’ll definitely need underwire and/or push-up bras. If you have a smaller bust or implants, it’s OK to go without.

Corsets are always super flattering, pulling you in and pushing you up in all the right places. And plunging necklines also create subtle sexiness.

Camera-Friendly Clothing

Lace is one of the best fabrics for a boudoir shoot. It has a gorgeous texture that looks great on camera. There are lots of options here: bodysuits/one piece, bra & panties sets, thigh-high stockings (with or without a garter), etc. Great details on these include straps, ruffles, bows, scalloped edges, lace-up panties, and sheer garments. Solid black, white, and jewel tones typically look best in photos. But if you have a different color or pattern in mind, run it by me or bring it along to your portrait session, and we can test it out.

For shoes, you always want to go with nude and black stiletto heels to elongate those legs! At the beginning of the shoot, I like to start out with what I look to call the “Cindy Crawford/Girl Next Door” outfits and poses. Think off-the-shoulder tops, a braless tank top, your significant other’s button-up shirt or jacket, a sports jersey, or sexy pajamas.

Keep in mind that high-waisted bottoms aren’t typically flattering unless you have a booty or rectangle/straight body.

Where to Buy

Most of my boudoir clients are finding their lingerie at Adore Me, Avid Love, Victoria’s Secret, Torrid, and Amazon (order a size up if it’s coming from overseas.) If you want to try items on to see how they’ll fit, try local boutiques and work with a stylist. If you’re not sure what will work, always bring more, and we’ll edit at your photoshoot. Keep all of the packaging, tags on, and receipts just in case you need to return anything
