Do It Yourself Wedding- How To’s

Hello my lovely brides and brides-to-be! My husband Peter and I celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary this year and renewed our vows on Palm Coast at the Hammock Beach Resort. If you know me, I’m all about DIY projects and love to show my clients how to save a few bucks where they can. My friends and family helped me make all of the decor and desserts below (and had a great time doing it!). Remember, you can have a gorgeous wedding and reception without having to spend a ton on everything (save your money so you can afford a quality photographer ;). Take a few tips from me and check out my completely DIY Lemon & Lavender themed ceremony!

I found most of my centerpieces and decorations online or at local thrift shops and consignment stores. Here my son Ethan and I tied raffia together to hang on the guest chairs (so cute!). Later, we attached starfish to them to beach it up even more. You can buy raffia ribbon online for less than $10 a roll – it’s so easy to work with and looks terrific with everything.

Here I used Krylon Fusion for Plastic – Hammered Finish Spray Paint (also less than $10!) to cover these table toppers. The spray comes in four colors (this one is copper) and is dry to the touch in 15 minutes. It’s made for plastic but will work on everything from wood to iron; such a great alternative to buying all new bowls and pitchers. As you can see, the whole family helped out with these beach signs – even Emory, our budding photographer (and Nikon user only!) made an appearance :). Peter cut out these signs from spare wood and we wrote on them with some leftover white paint. Such a fun day with the family!

Take a look at how it all came together!

The centerpieces were my favorite part – lavender arrangements and signed lemons for name cards!

My girlfriends made these delicious lemon cake pops and helped me assemble the s’more kit giveaways. The invitations and stationary were all designed on my personal computer and were so simple to put together. I hope you took something away from my projects, you can do the same thing if you’re willing to put in the time and effort 🙂

Special thanks to Kelly Hite of Pure Sugar Studios for photographing my whole weekend and to my friends and family who helped put everything together!
