It was such a lovely day for a Tampa waterfront wedding at the Davis Islands Garden Club for Heather and Joe. These two lovebirds are in the military and caught each other’s eye on base at MacDill. Heather LOVES to bake so she used to bring in sweets for everyone to enjoy; when it was time for Heather and Joe’s first date, the two thought it would be a good idea to try and make something that Heather hadn’t mastered..lemon meringue pie. How hard could it be? As they would soon find out, a bit harder than expected! But it lead to love, so that’s the way the cookie crumbles, right? 🙂

I was so appreciative that our couple was willing to brave the heat and capture some images in the sunshine. I have discovered that I really LOVE photographing these types of portraits in full sun. Honestly, it used to scare me, but now I LOVE it. It creates some of the prettiest imagery of a bride and groom.
The couple really put their own “stamp” on the DIGC, with colors and decor representative of their personalities.
We mentioned the couple’s love for baking and the challenge of lemon meringue pie; it would only make sense that they have the most delicious wedding cake- in lemon meringue (and cupcakes, too!). Since their first date of cake baking did not turn out too well, they ended up with blueberry pie that night. Their cake baker incorporated that into their wedding cake as well! (Thanks for “forcing” me to take some home with me, Heather and Joe!)
